The #clozbabe team has been scrutinizing the gram looking for the fashionistas of the island and I can tell you, there are some absolute babes out there serving us looks on a tray.
Upcycling, Modest Fashion, Sustainable, Trendy, Artzy, Feminine or Tomboy styles, these women own them all. Through their curated feed they made their reputation in the Mauritius Fashion industry.
So, here’s a small list of the Great Insta Style Bloggers you should keep an eye on :
4 gorgeous women in and out who showcase a refreshing and relatable style!
While following them and browsing through their feed, you will find all kinds of #styleinspos for all kinds of occasions!
They all have a different #Fashionattitude while still being up to date with the latest trends. I’ll let you find out more about them.
Mélissa Blackburn @meloblack
Melo or meloblack for the gram is 38, married and has 2 amazing kids that she funnily describes as “drain my energy everyday but I love them so much”.
She started on Insta in 2019 and shares her everyday looks while rocking her #momlife. What we love about her feed is that it is authentic and gives us a heads up about the upcoming trends.
This woman breathes Fashion, she studied Textile and Fashion Design, then started a career in the Textile Industry in 2006 as fashion designer/pattern maker for a well know company in MU.

Melo is a #backtoblack kinda Gal and picks her outfits according to her mood of the day.
“I also like to try some different looks I see on the catwalks; play with shape and colours (sometimes) but I mostly wear black every day.”
- Your winter essentials this year
A pair of jeans (mom jeans for me), a structured bold coloured blazer, ankle boots (got a pair of black leather ones from Gemo and I can wear them every day), a basic turtle neck and the goes-with-everything leather jacket
- What’s the one outfit that fits every occasion according to you?
The LBD (little black dress). It can be styled in numerous ways for day and night events.
- fav fashion Icon
Alexa Chung for sure but keeping an eye on Zendaya too. I do also like how Billie Eilish is shaking up the fashion world recently.
On top of sharing her favourite looks Melissa also promotes Circular fashion and sustainable textile processes, both on her personal IG @meloblack and @the_fashion_nerd_mu.
“Fashion can be both fun and creative. But fast fashion, in which a garment is often transported thousands of miles for sale only to be thrown away after a handful of uses, is an expression of the wasteful, idle and dirty economy.
The fashion industry is ranked fourth in terms of its negative environmental impact after housing, transport and food. Thinking differently in our way we purchase clothes and buying second-hand shopping will encourage sustainability and reduce our carbon, water and waste footprint by one-fifth.”
Suhaylah Fooljaree @suh_est_la
Suhaylah, 24, is a woman of many faces, yes, on top of being a fashion stylist, she is also a community manager, an art director and has her own talk show called “The Confinsta show”. I meeaaan, this babe is skilled “as F”!!!
Her passion for fashion grew during her university days when she was asked by a good friend to be the stylist for one of his impromptu shoots and that’s the day she realised “Oh I actually love doing this”.
What we love about her feed? Her styling videos! Specially her Blazer Fits Video and you know I already expressed my love for Blazers this year! Plus, she is not scared to dare and experiment. Suhaylah inspires her followers, who even create some of her looks.
“Styling videos for the gram started in November of 2018 and I try to be as consistent as I can up till today. When I look back at my first styling video, I am shook cause it was catastrophic ? but thankful cause this is what helped me evolve. Now I have a team who helps me bring my vision into reality & I am super grateful for that. I also go out of my comfort zone while experimenting with diff color combinations, mixed patterns, layering, monochrome looks, color-blocking & this is how until I found my personal style.

Suhaylah’s style varies and evolves with time. She used to flaunt a more retro Tomboyish style but now she hits the day with a casual-chic street style or boho chic at times. “I’m loving black a lot these days & anything flowy!”
- Winter essential?
Definitely oversized blazers & hoodies. I’ve also found myself wearing hats (bucket hats & berets)
- The one outfit that fits everything:
My green Zara silk dress. There’re so many ways to style it & it fits every occasion. For example: Have to go to a chic date night?
-add a fur coat, golden heels, statement earrings m, gold & green clutch to it
A casual brunch with the girls?
-add an oversized denim jacket, hoops, white shoes & rattan bag
Work?
-add black blazer, black heels, a minimalist set of golden jewelleries and black office bag.
- Fav Fashion Icon
I have a lot! I follow mainly European & Indian fashionistas. I really love tayhage, leonie hanne, styleupbysakshi, komalpandey etc
When she’s not creating content or planning her next outfit this strong hard-working woman is also an advocate for Mental health awareness. This is a cause she relates to and aims towards ending the stigma around it. Moreover, she is doing her part in saving the planet by working on clean-up campaigns all around Mauritius which she is actually starting next week!
Vershini @vershini_01
Vershini made her fashion entrance at the Backstage Awards where she won the Fashionista Award, and she is only 22 years young!
She is already setting herself for success by studying finance and business marketing.
Her drive for Fashion and style started when she was only a teenager, she was already keeping up with the latest trends in fashion and beauty, so she’s now exploring this passion and sharing her journey on the gram,
This absolute bombshell describes herself as « A spunky millennial with big dreams of marking my mark on the world » At her young age she is already inspiring and sharing her authenticity with more than 10k followers and encourages them to believe in their dreams!
What we love about her feed is how colourful and bubbly it is. She’s not afraid to go for it and slays every look, it’s like a little fashion magazine.
Fashion ID
Vershini defines her style as a direct derivative of her personality which is: “I am a cheery person; my friends describe me as the happy, and energetic young lady, pursuing her dreams.”
- 2021 Winter Essentials
A turtleneck shirt either black or white! Chunky Boots plus oversized Blazer and tadaaa
- The one outfit that fits everything according to you?
A little white dress; White always has it all. Its beauty is absolute. It’s the perfect harmony – Coco Chanel.
- Fav fashion Icon
Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe
On the island I have two major ones: Melissa Blackburn and Dae stafford.
As much as always being in style working towards her dreams is a must for Vershini, she is a driven young lady and I have no doubt we’ll be hearing more about her.
“ Being young I’m always being questioned, is it worth investing so much; your time and assets? My answer to this is, I’m taking chances when I’m still young, so that I can tell stories when I’m old. And, I believe that if you want to shine like a sun, first burn like sun!”
Zainab @simply_zai_
Zainab, started a lifestyle blog in 2017 and carried on making her first Styling Video for the gram in 2020 which received tons of reactions. This encouraged her to start more Fashion contents and share them on the platform.
What we love about her feed? Simply Zai, like her name says it so well, shows us that we can be dressed simply and yet be stylish. Her profile is curated, delicate and we love the tones!

Dressing up and creating her own style is what she is about. She describes herself as: “simple and quite sophisticated at the same time. I like to be comfortable in my clothes. I’m more into neutral colours but slightly getting some bold colours in my closet.”
- My Winter Essentials
An oversized cardigan which keeps me warm and trendy at the same time. And of course, a black perfecto!
- Any Occasion Outfit
A total denim look! Can be paired with a nice pair of sneakers for a casual day look and heels for night out?
- Fav Fashion Icon
I love the style of Naima (@naimabegum_ on instagram) and I find most of my inspirations on Pinterest.
Zainab wears her confidence flawlessly and you wouldn’t even think once that she had been a victim of bullying.
“Many would say, you are so fat (I was around 55kg) and this really had a massive impact on me. I did a drastic diet and lost around 7kgs in 2 months.
I did not pay attention to my health and now I regret it. Fatigue, loss of appetites, lack of vitamins etc… I would tell everyone to love themselves first! Learn to love yourself, embrace your flaws and don’t listen to others as long as you’re healthy and fit in your body.”
Yes, she does not only display her style but a beautiful personality and encourages self-love and self-acceptance. Body shaming is something that’s taking ridiculous proportions these days because of the beauty standards imposed on us as young women. It’s encouraging to see people using their platform to eradicate this!
It was a pleasure putting this article together and I hope you enjoyed learning more about these amazing women than I did in writing this article.
Showing their wit, drive and style with a purpose, all of this through their platform is a real inspiration on all levels!
Alsoooo the girls’ winter must haves: Blazers, Mom Jeans, Oversized Cardigans and Turtleneck Tops can all be found the website! So, hurry up!
Share this #fashioninspo with your friends and don’t forget to follow these Style Sharks to rock your fashion game on the daily.
I hope you enjoyed this post and as usual don’t hesitate to drop me your suggestions.
